Overcoming the resistance to ideas
Madingley Hall, Madingley, near Cambridge - Wednesday
22 October 2008
The saying goes "invent a better mousetrap and the world will
beat a path to your door", but as every entrepreneur knows,
this isn't true.
The world will deny that mice exist, that they need trapping and
that your trap is any better than anyone else's. When they finally
admit that it's quite good, they will claim they knew it all along.
New ideas always face resistance, whether they are for a better
business process, a new product, or a seemingly obvious idea for
how to make the world around you a slightly better place. This resistance
is frustrating, time consuming and often apparently illogical.
This illuminating talk from the successful inventor, entrepreneur,
author and change agent, Anne Miller, will explain why this happens
and more importantly, what you can do about it.
He talk will be based on her recent book The Myth of the Mousetrap,
how to get your ideas adopted (and change the world)
