In due course, Weather Risk Advisory raised £250k from a group of seed investors led by Chris Poulton of Added Value Capital Partners and Hugo Upton. It may be a cliché to say that the advice and support provided by investors can be as important as their money, but it's certainly true in our case. All the investors share our Vision and identify with our approach to the business, and we have been able to appoint a number of Non-Executive Directors to the Board - partly as a result of which, we now have a successful US-focused commercial strategy.

Since that time, we have secured a number of high-profile clients such as Hess Energy Trading, London Electricity, and the London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE), and are in discussions with almost all current participants in the weather derivatives market (banks, insurers, energy and commodity traders, etc.).

We have also recently formed a consortium, comprising ourselves and the major trading organisations, to help develop our WeatherML data standard. This has helped continue the high-level of interest we enjoy among journalists, which has led to coverage in the FT and Sunday Business as well as the trade press.
