The Future
All that was to change when GEIF came on to the scene. Vetstream
applied to participate in the first GEIF Investment Presentation
Day: an exciting opportunity to present our ideas to potential investors,
and a real test for us. How could we summarise the potential of
our product in a ten-minute presentation, in competition with the
other co-presenting companies seeking investment?
Funnily enough, having access to all the potential investors in
the presentation and break-out session was not ultimately as useful
as the briefest word passed in the corridor with the actual investor's
lawyer. 'I might have a client who could be interested' were the
only words from the unknown lady, and then she vanished like Cinderella.
However, GEIF chairman Nigel Brown identified her as Bridget Kearle
of Hewitson Becke & Shaw. A cold call to Bridget (who was turning
out to be more like the Fairy Godmother than Cinderalla) a couple
of days later revealed that indeed she had spoken to her client,
Harmsworth Publishing, and they were interested in meeting us.
